Vanity desks and dressing tables

A dressing table is a desk with better light. Get the light and the surface depth right and the rest of it is storage.

The mirror is the product

Every vanity in this department comes with a lit mirror, and the lighting is the part that decides whether the table works. The models here light from around the frame rather than from above, which is the arrangement that puts light on both sides of a face instead of casting shadow down it. Several carry three colour modes so you can match the light to where you are actually going.

Brightness is adjustable on the models that say so. Where a description does not state adjustable brightness, our page does not claim it, and that is worth checking if you get ready at six in the morning and at six in the evening in the same seat.

Surface, drawers and what goes where

Widths run 43.2 to 55.1 inches. The narrow end suits a bedroom corner and holds a working set of daily things. The wide end gives you a proper working surface with drawer towers on both sides, and it is the one to choose if your collection has outgrown a drawer.

Seven of these carry a glass top, which wipes clean after a spilled foundation in a way that a wood veneer does not. Drawer counts here run to seven, and several models add small trays and dividers inside the top drawer for brushes.

Power at the table

A dressing table that has to run a hair dryer and a straightener from a wall socket across the room is a table with a cable across the floor. Several models here build outlets into the frame, and the ones that do say so in their name.

Colour choice in this department is wider than the rest of the range, including pink and purple alongside white, black, oak and walnut. A dressing table is usually the one piece in a bedroom people are willing to let be a colour, and the range reflects that.
