Where a figure on a page comes from

A figure belongs to the piece it sits under. We carry nothing across from the model beside it and round nothing to make a column look neat. A nightstand published at 17.7 inches wide is not an 18 inch nightstand on this site.

Where the maker publishes nothing about a piece, its page stays quiet on the point. One chest of drawers carries a load rating and the chest beside it carries none. That unevenness is the honest shape of what the maker gave us.

The names on the pages

We write the names here ourselves. We read what the maker publishes about a piece, then lead the name with the thing itself, its width and its finish. A week later, that name is how you find the piece again.

Lines that do not get crossed

• No invented reviews, ratings or testimonials.
• No invented company history, factory, team or founding year.
• No account of manufacturing, testing or storage that we cannot show you.
• No typical value dropped into a specification that is silent.
• No warranty, delivery promise or stock figure, since not one of those is ours to give.

Sources

The safety and materials writing leans on federal rules rather than on an opinion about furniture. We open and read every source before a sentence leans on it, and we print the date we read it beside the link. The register is on our sources page, and the method behind these pages is set out under methodology.

Prices

We update prices on a schedule and every page carries the date of that update. A price that jumps far enough to look wrong is held back for a person to look at, and a piece with no buyable price leaves the range rather than standing there with a stale figure under it.

Photographs

We publish a photograph at the size it arrived at and never stretch it past that. Stretching one costs detail and adds weight, and that is the whole reason the gallery tiles here are modest instead of running the full width of the screen.

When we get it wrong

Write to contact@bornoon.net with the model and what you measured. We check the page against what the maker publishes for that piece and change it. Corrections here are quiet and quick rather than argued over.
